Sticky Date Pudding.

Dates!

Dates relevant to the theme of the festival.
Australia day
Anzac day
New years eve / day
Boxing day

Problems!
Big Day Out usually falls on australia day.

A major celebration seems inappropriate for a day as profound as anzac day.

New years eve or new years day could work, plays in nicely throughout the night if it were a new years eve thing, although like australia day there are existing festivals.

Boxing day, got the test, but that can only attract a fixed amount, once again the showing of the cricket could play nicely into the hands of the festival.

Weather should be considered, the season in which these days fall. If none of the mentioned are deemed appropriate a date can be set aside, it will belong solely to the festival.

THAT IS STILL YET TO BE NAMED =(

I find the lack of criteria for this major assessment very frustrating.

The Tambourine Man.

Music, where my project started, will consist mostly of Australian bands, possibly one big international band providing they slot into the environment. I would like there to be constant music around the place, mainly chilled music, of the folk/acoustic variety to set the scene. This provides an opportunity for unknown artists to play a substantial set, they will of course have to submit demos to be inducted into the setlist. More established bands will take the big stages more occasionally. Some bands that come to mind are The Living End, Hunters & Collectors, ACDC would be hopeful. On a smaller scale, two bands local to Melbourne provide an example of the genre i’m looking at to create an appropriate atmosphere, they are Wagons and The Currency.

Tonight i’m going to catch up with Perri, we’re going to sit on our blogs all night and hopefully be insanely productive and come up with some kooky ideas. As you can see i’ve formulated a bunch of ideas that still need to be seen through, which i’m confident about, struggling to find a name though! So I though I would embrace the fact that this is indeed a blog assignment, and although I doubt my fellow students will be browsing, I could use an idea or two. Cheers!

Oktoberfest.

Posted in Uncategorized on May 7, 2009 by loamsdown17

See it is one of my life ambitions to attend oktoberfest, and I realise that this may sound like the dream of a 19 year told who enjoys alcohol a little too much, but it is much more than that. The atmosphere, the smell of the stale beer embedded in the tables, music, and culture all around. Tents, food, people from all around the world uniting together with no woes, with love, and inebriation!

I don’t intend to copy oktoberfest, rather I would like to capture and recreate the atmosphere.

Sick of boring buildings serving  cans of beer and other beverages for like $10 each. A hall or marquee is in order for drinking, with varieties of bottled and tap beers, large glasses and all that jazz.
